TIMOTHY TILMAN Obituary

TIMOTHY RANDOLPH (TIM) TILMAN

It is with great sadness that the family of Timothy Randolph Tilman announces his passing on January 20, 2026 after a long battle with pneumonia. He was 81 years old at his passing and lived a full life. Born on July 25, 1944, in Boulder City, NV to Lee and Noma Tilman. He and his five siblings were raised in Boulder City. Tim graduated from Boulder City High School in 1962, where he starred on the basketball court, football field and in track and field. Tim was a star receiver on the 1961, BCHS football team that was undefeated and won the state Championship. Tim went on to college in southern California and while working in the mail room at Disneyland met his future wife of 60, years, Jo Lynn (Jody), who was also working there. The couple decided to move to southern Nevada and Tim began his career in the casino hospitality business first working at the Riviera Casino and then Circus Circus where he moved into a bell captain position. Tim opened the Excalibur and advanced to a position of Superintendent of Services as head of the bell desk, valet and transportation. Tim later worked at the Luxor. He also sold insurance for Farmers and Northwestern Mutual. Tim and Jody settled first in Las Vegas in 1967, and moved to Boulder City in 1977. Tim was elected to Boulder City Council in 1980, and served until 1984. He loved serving on the council and served on several area committees including the regional transportation commission. Tim was especially committed to service to his fellow man and was a constant volunteer at the Boulder City Emergency Aid, the Friends of the Desert homeless feeding program at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Henderson and St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Boulder City where he served on the Vestry and as a Senior Warden. Tim represented St. Christopher's at the Nevada Episcopal Diocese convention several for years. They had two sons, Christopher and Brandon, who were Tim's priority in everything he did. Tim coached several sports teams in Las Vegas and Boulder City where he made an impact on many young people. Tim and Jody hosted several exchange students from other countries and had a love for people and cultures other than our own. They enjoyed traveling to Europe several times to Asia and going on a safari in Africa. Tim was a well read person who knew both sides of every political issue. He subscribed to political magazines all over the spectrum. He also was the most knowledgeable person about the civil war and had a library on the subject that would make a small university proud. Tim also loved reptiles and was the neighborhood "snake catcher". He never would kill a snake and would catch and release them in the desert unharmed. Tim was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Noma Tilman and sisters Dawn Tilman and Nomalee Tilman and brother, Rick. He is survived by sister Kathleen Tilman, brothers Paul (Donna) Tilman and his wife of 60 years Jo Lynn Tilman, his sons Christopher (Devon) and Brandon (Amy), grandchildren Wyatt, Justice, Ella, Nora and Kyle as well as numerous nieces and nephews (and grandnieces and nephews). A memorial service will be held at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Boulder City on February 21, 2026 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name should be made to Boulder City Emergency Aid, Friends in the Desert at St. Timothy's in Henderson or the Something Else Committee at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Boulder City which Tim initiated.
