SHIRLEY VIRGINIA NIX
Shirley Virginia Nix, 94, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025 at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas.
She was born November 25, 1930 in Chehalis Washington to Herbert and Clara (Roach) Sethe, growing up in the shadow of Mount Rainier. She graduated salutatorian from Eatonville high school in Washington state. Shirley was a 57-year resident of Boulder City. She worked as a librarian at the old Boulder City Library, located where the police station now stands. She then went on to have a rewarding career at the Bureau of Reclamation, finally retiring from the water scheduling department. Shirley spent many happy years traveling around the country and many places around the world with her husband of 30 years, Robert Nix.
She loved spending time with her family, eating out, going on picnics and playing cards. She was an avid reader and enjoyed many hours playing bridge and pinochle with her dear friends at the senior center.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Nix; and sister, Faye Beswick. She is survived by her children/step-children, Daniel (Rolando) Evans, Suzan Slaughter, Douglas Evans, Bruce (Jennifer) Nix, Bryan Nix and Michael Nix, grandchildren Micah Evans, Regina (Carlos) Soto, Michael Nix Jr., Evan (Kim) Nix, Adam (Joey) Nix, Allison Nix and Cazden Nix, great-grandchildren Ian Evans, Avery Evans, Tristan Soto, Cameron Soto, Eli Nix, Fawkes Nix and Romily Nix.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1st at 1 PM at the Boulder City Elks Lodge. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice.
