Marion "Mark" Carlton, 93, of Boulder City, Nevada, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, surrounded by family. Born in San Bernardino, California, to Ruth and Frank Carlton, Mark met his high school sweetheart in Coachella Valley, California. They married and began a 65-year journey together, raising a family and building a life centered around love and adventure.

Mark began his career as a telephone lineman in California, known for his swift use of climbing hooks on 80-foot poles. In 1962, he moved his family to Boulder City, Nevada, drawn by the proximity to Lake Mead and the Colorado River. An avid fisherman, he founded the first Bass Masters chapter in Boulder City, sharing his passion for fishing with generations. His nickname, "Captain Mark," reflected his leadership on countless family outings, teaching his children and grandchildren the joys of fishing and boating.

After retiring from Centel Telephone Company in 1991, Mark and his family spent summers in Florence, Oregon. There, he fulfilled his dream of being a commercial deckhand, savoring the fresh catch and sharing the experience with loved ones.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Jean Carlton. He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Smith (Butch) and Linda Ronnow; grandchildren, Melissa Mellett, Kristie Patterson (Dan) and Tyler Smith; great-grandchildren, Ben, Bodie, Hailey, Savannah, and Kai; and great-great-grandchildren, Nathan and Kal-El.

Mark's legacy lives on through the memories he created and the love he shared with his family. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
