Manfred Guenther Obituary

MANFRED GUENTHER

Manfred "Fred" Guenther, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 90.

Born on May 18, 1935, in Bautzen, East Germany, Fred's early life was shaped by the challenges of post-war Europe. In 1949, at age 14, he and his family escaped the Communist regime, fleeing to West Berlin. Their dream of freedom led them to apply for asylum in the United States, which was granted in 1952, when the family emigrated and settled in Independence, Missouri.

In 1953, Fred proudly enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving for four years. During his service, he became a naturalized American citizen—one of the proudest moments of his life.

Fred then embarked on a distinguished 30-year career in law enforcement with the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department. Beginning as a police officer in 1958, Fred rose through the ranks to retire in 1988 as Deputy Chief.

Thereafter Fred and his beloved wife Margot relocated to Boulder City, Nevada, where they built a warm circle of new friends.

Fred is survived by his devoted wife and soulmate of 41 years, Margot; his son David (Sherrie); grandsons Brett (Shelby) and Jared; and great-granddaughter Callaway, all of Tennessee. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

Fred will be laid to rest at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.
