Gregory Paul Hoit (Greg) Obituary

Boulder City, NV - Gregory (Greg) Paul Hoit, age 70 passed away in his Boulder City Home on January 18th, 2026.

Greg was born to Douglas Brown Hoit and Mae Lacy Hoit at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, CA. At age 15 he suffered a nearly fatal motorcycle accident but that didn't hinder his love of riding into his 40s. He graduated from South Pasadena High School, Class of 1973. He was Phi Kappa Tau at Pasadena City College where he became a skilled mechanic and dragster driver, went on to build his own speedboat which he loved to drive around Lake Mead. He loved his years as a float driver for the Rose Bowl Parade from 1975-1977 and was dedicated to watching the parade live every year on January 1st.

For a living, Greg proudly drove a concrete mixer truck for over 30 years and is known for his strong work ethic and commitment to providing to those he loved.

Outside of work, Greg found joy in Deep Sea Fishing with his kids, and volunteered for his community by organizing Car shows, was a boy scout troop leader and a historian/tour guide for the Hoover Dam. He had a terrible singing voice but that didn't stop him from singing along to all his favorite classic rock hits in the truck or in church at St. Christopher's or even when there was no music playing at all.

In his retirement you could find him enjoying blockbusters or college football games from the comfort of his Boulder City home. He valued togetherness and created many lasting memories with family and friends, especially around the breakfast table.

He is survived by his brother, James Hoit, his wife Tamara Hoit, their five children Douglas Hoit (Victoria), Heather Christensen (Anthony), Adam Hoit (Courtney), Sarah-Anne Sura (Corey), Joshua Hoit, their grandchildren Logan Christensen, Alton Christensen, Zoey Hoit, Bennett Hoit, with another grandson on the way, and many nieces and nephews who will all remember him for his kind heart, hard work, and love for his family.

He will be deeply loved and missed by all who knew him.
