GLENN ROBERTS

1923 - 2/28/2015 Born in San Francisco, CA, and raised primarily in Arizona, Glenn's adult life basically started as a U.S. Army Air Corps enlistee. Serving proudly in various capacities, he gravitated to radio operator. Based in Yangkai, China, he completed 77 missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a proud Flying Tiger. After the war, with his wife, Bernice "Bunny," of 58 years (2003), he worked as a mechanic and eventually in field service for Solar Turbine of San Diego. This career took them as far North as Alaska, and as far South as Argentina. Fish and game far and wide were at risk.Retiring eventually in Boulder City, he continued to give back to many in various ways. As the coordinator of the "Old China Hands" amateur radio organization, he kept guys engaged and active in their passion. He would scour garage sales for broken electronics, repair them, and pass out to anyone. He took to computers early on, and built many folks their first. He was well-known around town for his jerky, smoked fish, and chocolate candy. Lend-a-Hand was a favorite local charity where he rebuilt walkers and donated time. The salmon of the Kenai River are now able to breathe a sigh of relief, as Glenn was a proficient slayer of them. He requested that his ashes be scattered there. No service is planned, however I know he would want to say "stay active and independent as long as possible, and remember to share;" he lived it.He is survived by an Uncle, Robert "Bob" Lee Sr. of Phoenix and a nephew Mark Bailey (mb77weik@gmail.com), of San Diego who looks forward to seeing him again in Heaven with our savior Jesus Christ.
