GERALD WATSON SPARKS
Gerald Watson Sparks, 83, of Boulder City, went to meet the Lord on December 31, 2024. He was born on April 3, 1941, in Tujunga, California, to Edward and Mildred Sparks, and leaves behind a legacy of love, courage, and devotion. He was raised with strong values that guided him throughout his life. In 1942, the family moved to a 160-acre farm in Parker, Idaho, where he developed strong work ethics and appreciation for the simple things in life. In 1950, they moved to Henderson, Nevada, where he attended basic high school and began to shape his future. At just 17, he made the courageous decision to quit high school and join the Air Force after losing his older brother Grant in a tragic accident, feeling an overwhelming sense of responsibility to carry on his brother's legacy. He proudly served his country for 20 years, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew him. After his military service, he devoted 21 years to the Nevada Test Site in the nuclear field. His love and devotion to his family were evident in everything he did, and he leaves behind a remarkable legacy: four loving sons, Todd (Kathleen), Grant (Lori), James (Rebecca), and Michael; his ex-wife Kay, mother of James and Michael; and 44 Grandchildren. His memory will also be cherished by his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. But most importantly, his heart belonged to his "lovely bride" Mable, whom he married in 2006 in Montana. He is preceded in death by both parents, the mother of his sons, Todd and Grant; his brother, Grant; both sisters, Arlene and Louetta; his nephew, Monty; and granddaughter, Brenda. Though he may be gone, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift all those who were blessed to have known him. Services will be Monday, February 3rd, at Grace Community Church, 1150 Wyoming Street, Boulder City. Viewing from 10:00 to 10:30, service immediately following. Interment at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel at noon. Reception hosted by and at Grace Community Church after interment.
