EDWARD ALLAN SHIRLEY

Edward Allan Shirley, also known as Al or "Squiral", passed away on February 7, 2024, in Las Vegas, NV, at the age of 79. He departed peacefully and was surrounded by family. Al was born on September 7, 1944 to Fern Adelle Fimreite and Edward Allan Shirley in Minot, ND. He grew up in Napa, California but moved to Boulder City, NV in 1984. The loss of his father in World War II shaped his journey in life. A proud veteran, Al honored his dad by serving in the Air Force from 1962 to 1966. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career in the car industry. Starting at Fairway Chevrolet in 1985, he retired as the General Sales Manager at Henderson Chevrolet in 2012. Even in his short retirement, Al's passion for hard work and the car industry led him back as the Auto Mall Operations Manager from 2013 until his passing in 2024. In his leisure time, Al enjoyed golfing with friends and family with most of his Sundays spent at Boulder City Municipal Golf Course. An Elk Member for 49 years, he spent 40 of those years at the Elks Lodge in Boulder City - Lodge # 1682. Throughout his membership, he held various positions, but holding the position as Exalted Ruler three times was a title he was most proud of. Al is survived by his ex-wife and beloved friend Kathy Shirley, daughter Jessica (Jon-Michael) Hudson, son Brad Shirley, sister Barbara (Randy) Nelson, stepdaughter Kim (Brad) Slusher, and three beautiful grandchildren Jaxon Hudson, Riley Hudson, and Brett Shirley. His strength and generosity extend beyond his immediate family to encompass a wide network of friends, family, and colleagues. His infectious laughter and positive outlook brightened the lives of all that knew him, creating a legacy of love and compassion that will endure long after his passing. A ceremony honoring Al's life will take place at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV, on March 13, 2024, at 1:20 PM. Following the service at 2:30PM a celebration of life will be hosted at the Boulder City Elks Lodge.
