BRUCE STANTON MAZZA
Bruce Stanton Mazza passed away on October 20, 2024, at his home in Boulder City, Nevada, where he resided for over 21 years. Born in Houston, Texas on January 5, 1946, he graduated from Lamar High School, attended Stephen F. Austin College, and served in the military reserves during the Vietnam War. Professionally, he took over the family business, Martini Tile & Terrazzo Co. which was founded by his grandfather in the early 1900s as the Mazza Tile Shop, the first such company in Houston. His leisurely pursuits included watching sports of all kinds and playing golf and tennis for years. With his quick wit, convivial demeanor, and ability to read people, Stan excelled at poker, playing in the World Series of Poker in Vegas and other tournaments around the world for decades. A natural love of adventure also led him on road trips near and far across North America with his wife and daughter, a passion he so evidently passed on to his daughter. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Kelly Mazza and Mary "Keeter" Skelton, his step-father Max Skelton, and brother Kelly Mazza. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Beverly, and his daughter, Dr. Mary Carol Mazza. He also leaves several cousins and a niece, Courtney Johnson, and nephew, Ramsey Koschak. A celebration of Stan's life will be held at a future date.
