Brian Wayne Olsen, 81, passed away on April 30, 2024 at St. Rose Sienna Hospital, Henderson, Nevada. He was born on August 12, 1942 in Reading, Pennsylvania to Dorothy Hinz and Louis Olsen. He married Linda S. Dudley in June of 2001 in Boulder City, Nevada.
Brian joined the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic (Jet Fighter) shortly after high school, which brought him to Nellis Air Force Base just outside of Las Vegas. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he joined the Clark County Sheriff's Department as a deputy.
Brian was a highly skilled woodworker, meticulously creating immaculate cabinetry, furniture, and decorative art, and he partnered with his friend to form a business called Into the Woods under which he crafted homes, cabinets, and furniture for numerous clients across Las Vegas.
Eventually, Brian left the Sheriff's Department to attend college, and he began working at Caesars Palace as a valet where he ultimately decided to dedicate his time. Brian worked his way up to Valet Manager. He was true "Old Vegas," moving there at a time when Vegas was up and coming. His work at Caesars gave him the opportunity to meet numerous big names from the time, including Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin when they were singing at Caesars Palace.
Brian had many incredible stories from that time from parking race cars during the Las Vegas Grand Prix to meeting mobsters and making friends with Evil Knievel. He always had an interesting story to tell about his life experiences. After retiring from Caesars, Brian focused on building his and Linda's dream home in Boulder City. He made all of the cabinetry, doors, banisters and built-in furniture pieces largely from wood reclaimed from a Caesars Palace remodel. He loved to drink wine, grow and tend his vineyard, play golf, go camping, and spend time with family.
Brian's daughter and two sons were born in Las Vegas, and he later became a stepfather to his wife's two daughters. He was a loving father and was very proud of his children's accomplishments. Brian always looked forward to spending time with them and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Linda; by his daughter Shannon Olsen Dickinson, his sons Eric Olsen and Shaun Olsen, his stepdaughters Rhiann Jarvis Denman and Morgan Pacini; by his grandchildren Grace Dickinson, Liv Olsen, Emmylou Denman, Maggie Denman, Maverick Olsen, Gianna Pacini, and Everett Denman; his sisters Sandy Rinehart and Pamela Black, and his brother Eric Olsen. He is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Dorothy Olsen.
Services will be held at 8:00 a.m. on June 4, 2024, at the Boulder City Veterans Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005 with a celebration of life following. All who would like to celebrate his life are invited.
